Character's Full Name: Remi
PB: Poppy Drayton
Character's Starting Level:
Character Age: 22
Physical Description:
Remi stands 5'2 and is slim and lithe, weighing maybe 110-120 lbs. She doesn't look like much - and even comes off as too thin at times due to a rough upbringing. She's stronger than she looks, however, used to wielding heavy weapons and dealing with dangerous monsters. Her eyes are bright green and her hair is brown/auburn and hangs long down her back, although she typically wears it back in braids to keep it out of her way. Her skin is lightly tanned (for an elf that tends to be a bit paler) from days under the sun and out in the wilderness, her face bearing a smattering of freckles.
Character's Species/Race: Remi is a half-elf. Her mother was a half-elf (Wood Elf decent), her father a human.

Character History (Pre-Veil):
Remi's father was a human monster hunter, a disgraced Ranger who dwelled among the rougher settlements of the Savage Frontier. It was during his time in Triboar that his paths crossed with a half-elven woman, a hunter wandering on her own hunting quest and for a time they worked together and fell into a deep attraction for one another. When she became pregnant, they settled in Triboar for a time, but her father's tendency to drink and gamble away all his earnings soon soured the relationship between them. Remi was still but a babe when her mother up and departed without a word, heading back to her people, never to be heard from again. Remi has no memory of her at all, and her father never spoke of her except during drunken rages. She learned from a young age not to ask about her.

Remi's relationship with her father was never a particularly good one. Whatever redeeming qualities her mother had once seen in the man were long gone as Remi grew up old enough to understand the world around her. Which, in her case, was very young. Her father spent more time drinking and gambling and getting deeper into debts as she grew and Remi was forced to learn her father's trade from a very young age - first in an attempt to help and later in the need to finish his tasks and collect the bounties they needed to survive. They never had much and Remi grew up knowing nowhere settled as home, bouncing from town to town, tavern to tavern, or more often than not, camping in the wilderness. She never made connections, never made friends, never stayed in any one place long enough to put down roots. She was practically a wild child, more at home in the woods hunting prey than in any decent civilized company. Especially with the company her father DID keep - it left Remi growing with a very cynical and jaded outlook on life and people in general.

But as hard a life as that was, it all got harder around the time she turned eleven. Her father had been working some suspicious sorts of jobs lately and coming back with strange amounts of coins and treasure - little of which Remi actually saw since he gambled it away as fast as he made it. The full details of what he was involved in, she still hasn't learned to this day. What she DOES know is that he double-crossed a local goblinoid clan and cheated them out of a large sum of money without fulfilling his end of the bargain. When they angrily came to the camp to collect, Remi's father had vanished, leaving only Remi behind - as payment, or to pay off the debt in his place. She barely avoided being killed and/or eaten on the spot and it was only because the Hobgoblin leader of the local tribe decided she'd be more useful as a slave working off her father's debts.

Which is how she came to be owned by a female hobgoblin warlord named Vortiga and put to work as a monster hunter, all her earnings being "collected" by the tribes and put towards the debt her father had incurred. Whatever became of him, Remi still doesn't know - he was never seen or heard from again and she suspects he might have already been dead somewhere when her freedom was taken.

For years this continued, her life and freedom controlled on a short leash by the goblin clan. While she could roam with relative freedom, there were always eyes watching her, and there was an enchanted cuff about one wrist that would both track her and also channel intense pain should she go too long without a check-in or a payment. Or if Vortiga wanted to summon her for something. As she grew older, her position became more precarious, because Vortiga's second in command, an ugly brutish captain by the name of Molik, started showing some interest in her as more than just a money-maker and Vortiga held this dire fate over her head as a threat and incentive to keep her in line. Even then, Remi knew it was only a matter of time before she outlived her usefulness to them.

It was when she was hunting monsters along the northern shore of the Moonsea that she ended up joining up with a band of adventurers in a little town called Phlan and ended up getting involved in a mystery far above her paygrade. It also interrupted her hunting and resulted in a clash between her masters and other darker forces that resulted in the clan of goblins getting entirely wiped out - including both Vortiga and Molik, finally freeing her from their possession. With her adventures temporarily concluding and her freedom now fully hers for the first time in her life, she'd started to make plans to head west to see more of Faerun now that she could go where she wished without having to look over her shoulder any longer.

Personality and Psychology:
Remi is a hardass, blunt and straightforward. Very much a punch-first-and-maybe-ask-questions-later sort of person. Or just punch, that is also her #1 strategy. Having grown up in the wilds or traveling from cheap tavern to cheap tavern, her manner is occasionally coarse, as is her language (she can out-swear most sailors). She's impatient and can be short-tempered and likes to be moving and doing things. She can hold a grudge like no one's business. Her sense of humor tends to be as sharp as her tongue and she falls back on sarcasm as a defense mechanism 90% of the time. She also occasionally lacks any sort of filter and blurts out things she probably should have kept to herself. Not that she's in the habit of showing remorse for this, she tends to commit even when she shouldn't. She doesn't have time for regrets, she thinks that's just a waste of energy.

She's not used to having much of anything in the way of possessions and can be known to jealously hoard what she does manage to gain and keep for herself. She is deeply motivated by money more than anything else. That being said, if you DO somehow gain her trust, she's surprisingly loyal and will have the back of whoever has hers. Even if that's occasionally very begrudgingly. And with much grumbling about it.

She's also Chaotic Neutral and is quite willing to do what she needs to survive. Her morality is very many shades of grey - nothing is ever black and white. Her personality points and ideals from her character sheet list these traits:

~ If you cannot keep up with me on a hunt, then you are only as good as bait for my prey.
~ Profiteer: The pay is often good and the work is steady - I could ask for no more.
~ Past debts have bound me to the hunt, obligated to fulfill the wishes of those who hold my contract. (this has been mostly resolved)
~ Often do I lie about my successes, withholding quantities meant for a client. ('client' ended up being the goblins - she squirreled away as much as she could hide without making them suspicious, which was never much)

Despite being very much a loner, she did end up developing a soft spot for her companions (as dumb as some of them were). She had little patience for those who WERE lawful, thinking them very naive and shortsighted, but most of the rest she got along with as they worked together and it was the first time in her life that it actually felt like someone else had her back. That's a feeling she's still coming to terms with because as intense and involved as their adventures were, that feeling is something that's going to take longer to adjust to, especially when she'd been convinced that she couldn't trust or rely on anyone. Now, at least, she'll be a little more willing to give some people the benefit of the doubt. Maybe.

Powers and Abilities:
Remi is typically a 5e Fighter-Monster Hunter, but I'm happy to work this around to the KOL equivalent if I can figure out something close enough? Here are the pages I use for her stats and things:

Fighter: http://engl393-dnd5th.wikia.com/wiki/Fighter
Monster Hunter: https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Monster_Hunter_(5e_Background)
Half-Elf: https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/5e_SRD:Half-Elf

Otherwise, she speaks Common, Elvish, Sylvan, Dwarvish, Goblin and Infernal. She has Simple and Martial Weapon proficiencies and can wear all armor types and use shields.

Any other important information (including special inventory items in their possession):
Things on her person: Giant Naga Fang + 1 1/2 scales from its hide
One full vial of Brood Mother poison
One Mysterious Blue Potion, effects unknown
A brass orb etched with strange runes on its surface

(None of these items are mandatory that she keep, but they are treasure/loot from her victories and have become tokens she keeps on her)

I seem to recall us tweaking armor/weapons with the character sheet but she's typically a dual-wielder (two longswords) but also carries a bow on her. She frequently has a variety of traps and trapping supplies, as well as an herbalism kit, poison purveyor's kit, and her survival gear. She wears chain mail.

Why do you think this character would join/work with the Knights? She's probably going to be a pain in their collective asses, because she's good at that, but ultimately, she's learned over her past adventure that she CAN work with others when there's a need and she's going to be real damned lost getting dropped into this strange new world.

Do you have a preference for which member of the Knights your character is squired to? Kenzi? >.>
